On 04 May 2026, the JALLC welcomed a high-level delegation from the Portuguese Military University Institute (IUM - Instituto Universitário Militar). The visit was a key engagement within the Flag Officer Course (CPOG), the premier post-graduate programme dedicated to preparing senior officers for the highest echelons of military command.

International cooperation in military excellence

The delegation comprised 31 senior officers from the Portuguese Armed Forces and the National Republican Guard (GNR - Guarda Nacional Republicana). Highlighting the enduring spirit of international military partnership, the group also included seven international auditors from Angola, Brazil, and Mozambique.

The CPOG curriculum focuses on deepening scientific production and expertise within military sciences, equipping officers with the essential tools to excel in high-level positions of Command, Direction, and Staff.

Translating analysis into Strategic Command

During the visit, the JALLC analysts delivered in-depth briefings on the NATO Lessons Learned Process, emphasizing how evidence-based analysis serves as a critical enabler for informed strategic decision-making. The JALLC's contribution to the course reinforced the importance of an end-to-end Lessons Learned process that can be replicated and integrated nationally and internationally. It also served to highlight how the JALLC is supporting the concept of Multi-Domain Operations and future-proofing National and NATO militaries.

Empowering the next generation of FOGOs

By hosting the CPOG, the JALLC reinforces its commitment to military education and its standing as a global hub for strategic thinking. This interaction allows future Flag and General Officers to integrate a Lessons Learned mindset at a pivotal stage of their leadership journey.

The JALLC remains a proud partner of the IUM, supporting its mission to foster a common understanding of global security challenges. We wish all auditing officers great success in their future commands and strategic responsibilities.
