From 12 to 16 October, JALLC ran a third successful iteration of the Lessons Learned Staff Officer Course (NLLSOC) this year at the Swedish Armed Forces International Centre (SWEDINT) in Kungsängen near Stockholm. Twenty-nine students, including JALLC civilian staff and officers from nineteen different countries attended, all of whom are involved in their national or in NATO's Lessons Learned processes. Course instructors from the JALLC and five different countries spent the week presenting the NATO Lessons Learned capability and techniques for its application
The five-day LLSOC is designed to give students a solid foundation to execute their duties as Lessons Learned Staff Officers (LLSOC). The course combines classroom presentations with group-oriented practical work to teach students the essential elements of identifying and documenting lessons along with techniques for more in-depth analysis such as root cause analysis. Students also received an introduction to the NATO Lessons Learned Portal (NLLP) and a chance to practice using it by submitting Lessons Identified. Participants thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality and comfort provided by the hard-working staff at SWEDINT.
For more information on the LLSOC, see the LLSOC page or the Lessons Learned Activities in the NLLP.
