On 19 and 20 October, JALLC Commander Brigadier-General Mircea Mîndrescu (Romanian Army), accompanied by JALLC civilian analyst Dr. Henrik Heidenkamp (Research Analyst, Operations Division) and Mr. Luca Ranise (Head, Budget and Finance Branch), participated in the 2015 NATO-Industry forum held in Lisbon.
Sponsored by NATO Secretary General, the Forum is co-organized by Supreme Allied Commander Transformation General Denis Mercier and Assistant Secretary General for Defence Investment Mr. Patrick Auroy. The Forum addresses a recognized need for an elevated strategic dialogue between NATO and industry to ensure that the Alliance benefits from the best solutions to military requirements, within expected budget and time constraints, now and in the foreseeable future.
Over three sessions, participants assessed opportunities for increased defence investments and cooperation, examined ways to balance NATO and national requirements, and discussed means to stipulate innovation across the alliance and with partners.
Commenting on the forum’s proceedings, Brigadier-General Mîndrescu pointed out:
"The 2015 NATO-Industry Forum offered a good opportunity for NATO, national, and industry stakeholders to openly discuss the future public-private partnership in defence. I consider the Forum an important milestone on the road to the 2016 Warsaw Summit where industry and innovation will certainly be high on the agenda. The JALLC's analysis seeks to contribute to a better understanding of NATO-industry dynamics as well as NATO and Nations’ defence procurement requirements and processes."
