On 19 February 2016, the JALLC received 55 student officers from the Portuguese Navy´s Senior Officer Promotion Course 2015-2016 as they paid an educational visit to get to know more about NATO's lead agent for joint analysis. The student officers, mostly Navy First Lieutenants, were shown around the JALLC's facilities and briefed on Joint Analysis and Lessons Learned in NATO, the JALLC's activities, and how the JALLC operates.

These officers, who are entering a new phase of their military career, shifting the focus away from the tactical level to the more strategic level as are promoted from First Lieutenants to Lieutenant Commanders.

The student officers took the opportunity to directly address the JALLC's Chief-of-Staff, Colonel Jorge Barros Gomes, showing great interest in the JALLC's activities, asking many (technical) questions about the way the Alliance identifies, analyses, and implements lessons.

When signing the JALLC's Book of Honour, Course Director, Portuguese Navy Captain Carmona Sasseti iterated the importance of this visit in the education of future Navy Commanders.
