The JALLC hosted Ms Radmila Shekerinska, NATO Deputy Secretary General, accompanied by Portugal’s Deputy Minister for Defence Policy, Dr Nuno Pinheiro Torres, on 08 January 2026, as part of a series of senior-level engagements focused on NATO’s analytical and lessons learned capabilities.
During the visit, Ms Shekerinska received a comprehensive overview of the JALLC, its position within NATO, and how the Centre supports the Alliance by delivering rigorous, evidence-based analysis and actionable Lessons Learned. An animated question-and-answer session followed, with discussion centered on how the JALLC is adapting to an increasingly fast-paced operational and strategic environment.
Ms Shekerinska noted the growing demand for faster analytical products to support senior decision-making. In response, the JALLC’s Commander described the introduction of the JALLC’s new Rapid Response reports, which are designed to deliver timely insights without compromising the Centre’s standards for high-quality, evidence-based analysis.
Another important topic was the relationship between the JALLC and the JATEC in the context of Lessons Learned. The Commander confirmed the strength of this relationship, noting regular coordination not only with JATEC but across the whole of Allied Command Transformation to ensure coherence, alignment, and responsiveness to NATO’s Strategic Command priorities.
The visit reinforced the importance of agility, innovation, and collaboration across NATO, and highlighted the JALLC’s central role in ensuring that lessons are identified, analyzed, and delivered at the speed of relevance.
