The intent for this engagement was to use the opportunity to share insights about each other’s work and how it supports NATO and the Allies and gain an understanding of how our respective activities could potentially support each other.

After the JALLC’s Chief of Staff welcomed the visiting party, the day started with a briefing on the JALLC, focusing on the NATO Lessons Learned Portal (NLLP), NLLP Content Analysis, and JALLC Communications.  These areas had the most touchpoints with the work of the visiting party which became evident during the briefing on Media Operations and Monitoring and Information Environment Assessment from NATO HQ’s Strategic Communications (STRATCOM) team.  Both the JALLC staff and the NATO HQ staff asked insightful questions about each other’s work, deepening the exchange of information and understanding. 20251210 - Visit of NATO HQ StratCom Team (7a).jpg

Similarities were identified in the way analysis is conducted and products developed, despite the relatively different topics.  For example, Media Operations and Monitoring and NLLP Content Analysis both need to cover a broad scope of topics in a single product and require careful and thoughtful summarization of key information for end-users, in particular key leadership.  As such, it was possible to identify some areas where experience exchange could potentially be transformed into innovation.

The engagement ended with both the JALLC and the NATO HQ staff agreeing that the engagement had been successful and that there was scope for more and similar engagements in the future.  The JALLC is always open to this type of engagement as it provides an opportunity for the exchange of information and insights at the staff level and increases the visibility of the JALLC analysis capabilities and NATO Lessons Learned.
