In response to Russia’s war against Ukraine, NATO took various measures to strengthen its posture and ensure that NATO would be able to deter and, if necessary, defend against any future threat to NATO territory. In addition, NATO and Nations have been ensuring that lessons related to the war, of relevance for NATO and its transformation, are captured, analysed, and exploited at the speed of relevance. The JALLC has been actively supporting this effort through various activities, including its JALLC-UKR Initiative and also through the publication of various analysis reports on key lessons from the war and related topics.2YR UKR Report.JPG

For example, recently, the JALLC published its report on Two Years of NATO Lessons Learned Portal Lessons Relating to Russia’s War Against Ukraine. This report presents the findings from the analysis of relevant Lessons submitted to the NATO Lesson Learned Portal between March 2022 and March 2024 and covers a wide range of topics including Command and Control, Joint Effects, and Cooperation with Civilian, International, and Other Organizations. The report also contains helpful summaries, charts, and diagrams as well as the list of NATO Lessons Learned Portal items used to produce the report. This comprehensive and practical report is available through the classified version of the NATO Lessons Learned Portal
