Exercises are important tools through which the Alliance tests and validates its concepts, procedures, systems and tactics. More broadly, they enable militaries and civilian organisations deployed in theatres of operation to test capabilities and practise working together efficiently in a demanding crisis situation. The JALLC provides regular support ot NATO exercises through its analysis reports which present evidence-based findings from review of sometimes hundreds of lessons on a particular topic. The added value comes from the JALLC's unique ability to syntheisze large quantities of lessons data with NATO information to generate new knowledge that goes on to inform leadership and support transformation and adaptation of the Alliance.

The JALLC was tasked to provide a report in support of the 2026 Exercise Campaign by analysing lessons in the NATO Lessons Learned Portal (NLLP) from Exercises STEADFAST DETERRENCE 2025 and STEADFAST DUEL 2025. The intent of the study was to provide NATO leadership with an overview of key findings from the reviewed lessons and NATO staff with more in-depth granularity of the content of the lessons to ensure holistic and rapid exploitation of the information. The study provided NATO leadership with an overview of key findings from the reviewed lessons and NATO staff with more in-depth granularity of the content of the lessons to ensure holistic and rapid exploitation of the information. The key findings cover topics including Capmpaign Synchronization, Joint Targeting, Logistics, Interoperabilty, and the Cyberspace and Space Domains.
