The JALLC, like all NATO HQs, is an international and multi-cultural place to work. The JALLC staff enjoy sharing their culture and, in particular, their cuisine with each other as this is a great way to get to know each other better and learn about NATO’s many Nations and cultures. Yesterday, the JALLC’s Spanish staff celebrated their Fiesta Nacional de Espanha by preparing a traditional paella for everyone to enjoy. The event not only gives the JALLC staff the opportunity to learn more about the Spanish culture and history, but also about each other.

It not only commemorates the country's history, achievements, and unity, but is also also the "dia de la hispanidad" which celebrates Spains ties to the Hispanic community world wide and the celebration of the virgin del Pilar (the holy patron of Hispanidad). On this special day, the Spanish people reconfirm their commitment to the nation's future. The National Day of Spain is a holiday throughout the entire country, and it is celebrated through numerous public and private events organized to honour the nation's heritage, history, society and people. The festivity is also celebrated by Spanish communities worldwide, including at the JALLC today. JALLC staff tucked into a traditional Spanish Paella prepared by the JALLC’s Spanish staff along with all the extras. The Commander noted that it is important to celebrate each other’s heritage together as events like these help us to appreciate our diversity which makes us stronger together.
