From December 01 to 03, JALLC military and civilian analysts attended a course in Strategic Decision Making for Crisis Response Operations offered by NATO's Crisis Management and Disaster Response Centre of Excellence (CMDR COE) in Sofia, Bulgaria. The three-day course offered an in-depth look at how NATO plans for and responds to crises at the highest echelons of the organization. Through both excellent briefings from subject matter experts and intensive teamwork assignments, participants came away with a comprehensive understanding and knowledge of the interactions and procedures involved in NATO's Crisis Response process.
The JALLC's analysts were particularly interested in the different analysis techniques used by decision makers within Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) and even got a chance to practice some of them themselves in the teamwork assignments. Overall, the CMDR COE provided an excellent course that allowed the JALLC's analysts to exchange valuable analysis related knowledge with other participants and the course organizers.
