Last week, NATO's Military Committee, the Alliance's senior authoritative military body, visited Allied Command Transformation at the JALLC. The visit marked a strategic engagement aimed at providing the Military Committee with first-hand insights into Allied Command Transformation current work regarding the NATO Warfighting Capstone Concept and other transformational topics such as defence planning, joint force development, and Lessons being learned from Russia’s war against Ukraine.
The JALLC’s Commander, Commodore Fernando Artilheiro, had the opportunity to present insights into how NATO is currently learning lessons and what can be done to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the NATO Lessons Learned Capability. He also explained what the JALLC is already doing to address some of the challenges and where the Military Committee can provide their support to ensuring Lessons in NATO are not just identified, but actually learned and implemented.
The presentations and on discussions over the two days of the Military Committee’s meeting in Portugal confirm NATO's commitment to staying ahead of evolving security challenges by continuously improving and adapting its military capabilities. Insights gained from these discussions will help shape NATO's future military strategies and plans, ensuring the Alliance remains agile and effective in addressing emerging threats.
