Lessons Learned Training

The Lessons Learned (LL) Analyst Branch offers several training courses throughout the year aimed at providing introductory and continuous training opportunities


JALLC Analyst Training Course

The aim of the Analyst Training Course is to provide attendees and JALLC analysts with techniques, tools, and knowledge to perform analysis in JALLC projects. Each course lasts for 5 days and two courses are provided per annum. Full details of the course, including the syllabus and administrative instructions can be provided on request.

Note: The Course is primarily aimed at JALLC personnel assigned to conduct analysis projects.


NATO Lessons Learned Staff Officer Course

Effective June 2011, the JALLC takes over the Directorship and management of the NATO Lessons Learned Staff Officer Course. The course is facilitated by the Swedish Armed Forces International Centre in Kungsängen near Stockholm.

Course Purpose

To prepare LL Staff Officers to manage and execute an organisational LL process using NATO LL-related processes, training, tools and information sharing in order to develop a LL capability. This course will also impart knowledge of organisational learning, observation collection, basis analysis techniques as well as endorsing, resourcing, tasking and implementing Lessons Identified.

Target Audience

Personnel posted to NATO LL billets within NATO Commands and/or member of partner nations.

Learning Objectives

Main focus on:

  • Knowledge theory and Management of Learning. Introduction to the principles of Knowledge Management and to Organisational Learning. The role of LL and innovation theory and use of scenarios within the LL capability.
  • NATO LL Capability. Overview of the NATO LL capability with emphasis on the LL process and supporting elements.
  • NATO LL Process. The principles, examples, tools, techniques and applications of the NATO LL capabilities.
  • LL Capability Support Elements. Develop an understanding of the support elements across DOTMLPF-I that enable execution of the LL process and delivery of command LL capabilities.
  • Examples of NATO LL Application
  • Practical Projects

Frequency

Four courses are run per annum. Dates for courses are:

  • NATO LL SOC 04 - 08 March 2013
  • NATO LL SOC 27 - 31 May 2013
  • NATO LL SOC 04 - 08 Nov 2013
