"The power of the Web is in its universality.
Access by everyone regardless of disability is an essential aspect."
- Tim Berners-Lee - the inventor of the World Wide Web.
The Joint Analysis & Lessons Learned Centre (JALLC) website was developed according with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0 (WCAG 1.0) of the World Wide Web Consortium Web Accessibility Initiative (W3C WAI).
The JALLC is committed to creating and maintaining an accessible website by removing barriers for people with disabilities. By meeting the WCAG we try to assure that all visitors to the JALLC website will be able to access all contents regardless of disability or other special needs.
The structure of all pages is provided by the eXtensible HyperText Markup Language (XHTML) Transactional 1.0 and all layouts (visual and graphics) through Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) Level 2. To minimize any possible error and maximize accessibility this website does not use JavaScript.
Our initial goal was to comply with Level Double-A (AA) but due to the nature of the website, mostly non-transactional, we were actually able to achieve Level Triple-A (AAA) on both WCAG 1.0 and WCAG 2.0.
Any changes to the website contents or structure are subject to validation in order to keep our high standards. To perform online accessibility validation we use a combination of three tools, the AccessMonitor (PRT), the Achecker (CAN) and the TAW (ESP) but there are others available on the W3C Complete List of Web Accessibility Evaluation Tools.

By implementing the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines Accessible websites benefit from Search Engine Optimization (SEO). An accessible website is easier to index by the search engines increasing their rank and the probability of being on the top of the results page and consequently contributing to better visibility on the web.
Please be aware that some published documentation are managed in other formats, like Portable Document Format (PDF), or are outside our system which may not provide full accessibility.
